Pimp My Barbie

When I first saw this Empress of the Aliens Barbie doll, I was just speechless! After the initial chin hitting the floor 'OMG!' I just had to post about her! Although I have quite a diverse collection of Barbies, it's unique Barbie dolls like this, that make me want to collect.

Heads up to TheDollGenie who alerted me to this doll on Facebook tonight, although it seems she will never make it into my collection as she is a Barbie Collector Exclusive.


I think you will agree that Empress of the Aliens Barbie has pretty gnarly hair and makeup. Very Katy Perry in E.T with cat eyes and a cosmic crowned updo with the most beautiful cherry red hair.

Bill Greening you are an absolute genius for designing this Barbie doll, she is just perfect. I even love the way it seems some tinsel has sneaked into Barbie's hair, very 1990's Barbie chic, but it works on this galactic gal. This exclusive doll is already popping up on eBay for pre-order although she won't officially be released by BarbieCollector.com until 21st June.

Remember that whole mess with the tokidoki Barbie collector doll (for adults) when it hit the media like crazy? The doll was trashed and talked about so much that she made the news and all because she had tattoos!



My view on it was Barbie can be whoever she wants to be, she is a doll and face facts there are women walking round with similar tattoos already in the media (popstars, actresses) who little girls already look up to. It's much more important to teach manners than to worry about how people look.

Anyway, I was fine with Tokidoki Barbie she's awesome and very sold out (although you can still find her at super high prices, see Amazon links below). But, what surprises me is that the Monster High Dolls are slipping under the 'moaning Minnie' radar. Did you know Operetta, the Monster High doll with the bright red hair and facial scars, has tattoos?

Yeah! She does and no one cares which is great, it's just a shame that the same wasn't thought about TokiDoki Barbie. I'm a big fan of the Monster high doll series, it's a good thing that they are very individual looking, it could teach an important lesson.
